Summer Learning Journey Activity 45

Hi bloggers,
I am now activity 45.
For this activity we had to gather some flowers grass twigs feathers or anything.
We had to put it in  a container then fill it up with water and freeze it overnight.
I made 3 different ones.
Here is mine........

I also recorded a video of it getting washed away.
Here it is............

Make sure to give me some feedback.
Thank you

  1. Oh wow Khadija! You did an amazing job with your ice sculptures! I especially like the one towards the front of the tray because it is so transparent and the petals seem to frame the leaf. Did you use a baking tray to make the ice into circles?

    1. Kia Ora Naomi,
I loved this activity so much so I wanted to make 3 more.
My favorite one is also the one in front because it was the most transparent.
No I didn't use a baking tray, I used small jelly containers.
Have you ever done anything similar to this activity before?
      Thank you

    2. Hi again Khadija, thanks for your reply! Great idea to use the jelly containers...I would have not thought of that myself. So glad you had so much fun you made three more! I will be sure to tell Vicki as this was her task that she thought up. It's perfect as a summer activity! I also like making my own ice lollies when it gets really hot - I just LOVE ice cream too. Do you have a favourite ice lollie or ice cream when it's hot?

    3. Kia Ora Naomi,
I also love ice cream especially in summer.
My favorite ice cream flavor is goody goody gum drop.
I love that flavor because of the mint ice cream and the little gummies that I chew in my mouth.
Also Miss Vicki used to be my sister Fatimah's teacher at school.
      Thank you

My name is Quein and I am a blog commenter for the Manaiakalani Summer Learning Journey. Thank you for sharing your creative mahi with me and your fellow bloggers. These are some great images of your work. I am very impressed with the colors that the flowers made in the ice. The orange one reminded me of the summertime sun and the pink one reminded me of cherry blossoms. It is fantastic to see your excellent work ethic and your creativity shine through in the activities you complete- Ka Pai!!!

I think ice is amazing. It has the ability to preserve things for a very long time. For example my brother was able to analyse the ice-core of Antarctica to look at how much the weather and atmosphere changed over the years. Do you have any suggestions for your fellow bloggers who would like to give it a go?

Keep up the Super work I look forward to your next blog post!!!

    Ngā mihi,

    Quein

    1. Kia Ora Quein,
Yes I really enjoyed this activity so I made 3.
My favorite one was the front one because it was so transperant.
My advice I would give is that if you are using plastic make sure it is heatproof because it will melt.
      Thank you

Thank you for your awesome thoughtful reply, we really appreciate it. It is really good to hear that you enjoyed the activity. That is a very good point to consider that we we must make sure that the plastics are heat proof.

Keep up the Super work I look forward to your next blog post!!!
