Summer Learning Journey Activity 36

 Hi bloggers,

I am now on activity 36 of the Summer Learning Journey.

This activity was about the weather and we had to create something like a weather journal,

accept we also had to  take  a picture of what we wore at those times.

I didn't add pictures but I wrote a little description of what I wore.

Here is my weather journal........

Make sure to give me some feedback.
Thank you

Ruby here, from SLJ. Awesome you're thinking about the weather and documenting what you are wearing throughout the day. Did you get hot at all in the middle of the day? How do your traditional winter clothes compare to your traditional summer clothes? It has been quite warm recently here in Wellington and I have been wearing my summer shorts and t-shirts. However, today it is cold and I have my dark blue puffer jacket on, which I love and bought for myself late last year as a present.

I've never been very good at dressing for the weather. Some people have even teased me for it! I think this comes from the fact that, being a Wellingtonian, you get used to not even checking the weather because it is so unpredictable that it feels pointless! You dress for 25 degrees in the morning, according to the weather forecast, and then by the afternoon, a heavy looking charcoal coloured cloud has rolled in and it starts bucketing down. Most people coordinate their wardrobes accordingly and dress for all seasons, which now I'm learning how to do, a little bit later than most people. Once I wore a single layer when it was snowing in the middle of a Danish winter! You would think I would learn my lesson quickly after that, but no. Haha. It pays to pay attention to the weather and be wise about these sorts of things, so I'm happy to see you are putting effort into thinking about it.

    Keep up the great mahi,

    Ruby

    1. Kia Ora Ruby,
In Winter we have a different materiel which keeps us very warm.
In Summer we have another materiel that keeps us cool.
I don't really know how to explain what they look like, but maybe in another activity you'll see what they look like.
That's funny that you don't dress for the weather, but i'm sure you will learn your lesson soon.
      Thank you

It is Charlotte here from the SLJ commenting team!

Awesome mahi here, Khadija! It is fascinating to see the temperature and what we wear isn’t it? You seem to wake up early! Wow! Where are your traditional clothing from? I have been changing clothes around five times each day because it gets too hot, and then I am in the air conditioned lounge and I get too cold, so I put a jumper on, and then I get warm again and put my togs on to go swimming! So many outfit changes for one day!!

I struggled to read the night section as it has a dark background and black writing. I suggest next time, if you have a dark background, use white writing so it stands out!

Keep up the amazing mahi, Khadija!

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Charlotte :)

    1. Kia Ora Charlotte,
Yes it is fascinating to see the temperature and what we wear.
Well I'm from Afghanistan and my traditional clothing come from there.
Wow, you change a lot in a day but that's what most people do.
OK, next time I will change the color writing to white if the background is black.
I will also change it now.
      Thank you

Ah amazing! What part of Afghanistan are you from?

I do indeed, more than most people, but that is mostly because I am so indecisive!

That is awesome- it stands out a lot more don't you think? Ka pai!!

      Ngā mihi nui,
      Charlotte :)

  3. Kia ora Khadija,

It’s Fiona from the Manaiakalani team. It is great to see you having a go at this weather journal task.

I think you have done a great job of creating this table to show what the weather was like at different points during the day. It looks like you were having some lovely weather! It’s been a bit chilly here in Wellington over the past couple of days so I’ve had to rug up. Is there a difference between the traditional clothing you wear in warmer or cooler weather?

Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more great mahi from you during the summer learning journey.

    Ngā mihi,
    Fiona Waugh

Yes there is a difference in clothing materiel.
In summer we wear clothes made from a materiel that keeps us cool.
In winter we wear clothes made from a materiel that keeps us warm.
      Thank you

  4. Kia ora Khadija. Thanks for sharing your activity and explaining your choices so well. I really like your background and how it represents day and night. Wow, it was still pretty hot at night time in Auckland. I'm on the Kapiti Coast and even though it was only about 22 degrees it felt a lot hotter. Do you prefer hot or cold weather?

    1. Kia Ora Phill,
Me too I love the background also because of the colors.
Wow I thought you were in Auckland but how is it down in Kapiti Coast?
I prefer cold weather because even though it is cold we can snuggle in our blankets and have a nice cup of hot chocolate.
      Thank you

  5. Kia ora Khadija. Ka pai for replying to all your comments. What an awesome way to be Cybersmart and make some great connections. It's great on the Kapiti Coast. It's a bit cooler like you said which I also enjoy. But I'm doing a lot of hiking and tough work so it still gets quite hot!
